WelcomeLast update:09 June 2008
Welcome to the Raspberry Gulch Shortline Rail Road. It is a 2 1/2" scale, 7 1/2" gauge, miniature railroad, located several miles north of Ocklawaha, Florida. The railroad is private, and by appointment only.
Construction of the railroad started mid 2007, after I bought 5 acres of heavily wooded property near the south edge of the Ocala National Forest. At present, there is aproxiamately 1500' of track. The track at present, consists of a 710' loop on the north end of the property. Update: 04/13/08 - Track length is up to 1500' as of today. It shouldn't be long now till the south east loop is started There is a 760' spur that departs the east side of the loop and runs to near the south end of the property. There is a large drainage ditch that crosses the property from east to west, near the south end. The track crosses the ditch with a 30' long steel bridge, constructed from an old mobile home frame. The east spur, after crossing the bridge, turns sharply into a level area that will be a small rail yard. From there, it will continue to the south west corner and into a loop. A major part of the loop will have to built on a trestle, as there is an extreme elevation change in the area where the loop will be constructed. Plans are, for the east loop to cross over the top of the west loop. Plans are, for the south railyard to have a turn table, steaming bays, and a turntable. The line has been ballasted with limestone since these pictures were taken. And now for a little tour around the railroad. The loco, and machine shop area on the north end.
And across the back yard of the main house.
Through the woods.
Down the hill to Raspberry Gulch.
Raspberry Gulch. This is where the town of Raspberry Gulch will be
built.
The curve in a cut coming out of Raspberry Gulch.
And headed back to the front.
The start of the new east spur.
And up the hill and into several S turns to avoid the trees.
Onto the steel bridge.
And into the area where the south railyard will be.
That concludes the tour for the moment. Stay tuned for more developements.
